Customs, Duties, and Import Fees

International orders may be subject to customs duties, import taxes, handling fees, brokerage charges, or other charges imposed by the destination country.

Who Is Responsible for Customs Fees?

The recipient is responsible for paying all customs duties, import taxes, handling fees, and other charges required by local customs authorities or the shipping carrier.

These fees:

  • Are not included in the product price.

  • Are not included in the shipping fee unless expressly stated at checkout.

  • Are determined by the destination country.

  • Are not collected or controlled by ELAN.

  • May vary depending on the order value, product category, and local import regulations.

ELAN cannot predict whether your order will be charged customs fees or how much those fees may be.

Check Your Country’s Import Rules

Before placing an order, customers are responsible for confirming that the purchased products may legally be imported into their country.

Customs laws and import requirements vary by destination. Some countries may require additional documentation, permits, taxes, or product approvals.

For accurate information, please contact your local customs authority before completing your purchase.

ELAN is not responsible for orders that are delayed, rejected, seized, destroyed, or returned because of local import restrictions or the customer’s failure to comply with customs requirements.

Customs Delays

International shipments may be held by customs for inspection or additional processing.

Customs processing times are outside ELAN’s control and are not included in our estimated delivery time.

ELAN cannot guarantee how long a shipment will remain in customs or accelerate a customs review.

Unpaid Customs Charges

If a customer refuses or fails to pay the required customs duties, taxes, or handling fees, the package may be:

  • Held by customs.

  • Returned to the sender.

  • Abandoned.

  • Confiscated.

  • Destroyed by local authorities.

Refusing a package or failing to pay customs charges does not automatically qualify the order for a refund.

If the package is returned and successfully received by one of our fulfillment partners, ELAN may review the order individually. Any approved refund may have the following costs deducted, where permitted by law:

  • Original shipping charges.

  • Return shipping charges.

  • Customs fees.

  • Carrier charges.

  • Handling and processing expenses.

ELAN does not guarantee that packages rejected by customs can be recovered or returned.

Refunds for Customs Fees

ELAN cannot refund or reimburse customs duties, import taxes, brokerage fees, handling charges, currency-conversion fees, or other amounts collected by governments, banks, customs authorities, or shipping carriers.

Questions or refund requests concerning those charges must be directed to the organization that collected them.
